Colorado Road Trip: Black Canyon of the Gunnison

We've been to Colorado several times over the years, but we always go there for live music and don't do much else other than that. With our usual trips to Red Rocks and Dick's were put on hold this year, we decided to finally take that epic Colorado road trip we've always dreamed about!
We started out in Denver and headed west, making a few stops along the way to walk around Central City and grab lunch in Avon. Our first destination on the road trip was the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
Within just 24 hours, we experienced both fire and snow. Due to these extreme weather conditions, we bailed on the originally planned camping trip. Thankfully Airbnb came to the rescue and we found an awesome house less than an hour from both sides of the national park!
Over the course of three days, we explored both the south and north rims of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The Grand Canyon gets all the hype in the US, while the Black Canyon is one of the least-visited national parks in the country.
This place is absolutely epic and is well worth the effort to get to! We had an amazing couple of days checking out the various viewpoints and hiking the trails.
In addition to seeing as much of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison as we could, we also got in a round of disc golf and cooked up a taco feast with some spicy Bloody Marys at our Airbnb. It was the perfect start to our Colorado road trip!
