How to fix Adobe Photoshop crashing or freezing all the time is explained in detail in this video. Adjust graphics processor settings

If you can launch Photoshop: Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance, and deselect the Use Graphic Processor option.

Mine was crashing when aligning images for HDR merge. The second suggesion (SHIFT+click on program's icon and not loading third-party plugins) sorted it out. Thanks!

Not concerned with PS 2022, but with 2023 24.5 where the main issue is crashing after the remove tool is used several times, then next when a tool icon is picked with a mouse click, and will likely crash. Instead, use a keyboard shortcut, like B for brush rather than picking the brush icon. Then, PS becomes stable using icon commands. However, if the remove command is used again, repeat using the keyboard shortcut first. PS still has a few issues to solve. The remedies you gave generally will not solve this particular crash issue, but are helpful on some occasions.

Ok, did everything and more. Resetting preferences, graphics change, etc. If I try to save anything, it'll hang for a few seconds and crash. This development is new as I did not have this problem until 2 days ago. I'm out of ideas. Downgrading to CS6 is not an option as that causes my laptop to boot endlessly unless I restore windows.

I have had this problem with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024. It's been freezing lately and been pissing me off when I'm in the middle of working on something. I hope this has helped. If it still does it, I'm sure I'll keep trying. There is always a solution to fix it.

I am using 2024 Photoshop, and it crashed over and over at reading preferences. All other Adobe programs worked. I tried all your solutions, and the problem continued. Then I noticed that on a couple of crashes, the monitor flickered off, and an external drive dropped out. I looked at the task manager, and memory was maxed out with just a few small programs running. It had to be memory, so I reset the memory cache file in windows system and rebooted the computer. Problem solved. It was just a corrupted disk memory file.

thank you so much, first i tried the reset preference but its still crashed, then i tried to change the graphic setting and it works, surprisingly smoother than before too XD

If these do not work, try this: search %appdata% in your windows start tab, go into the adobe folder and delete every folder that can be deleted (some wont work because theyre in use, just skip those) then try again.

My ps crashed when it was trying to recover earlier photos, tried first three ways to bypass the problem, then installed the whole ps again and problem solved. Who knows, maybe the graphic trick could have done it, but now we never know. Excellent video, good tricks!

For me its that photoshop isnt exactly crashing but quitting like the user clicking the x button, if there are no changes made on the file then it closes, other wise the pop up shows for saving changes before quitting.
