Roads and Trenches

Hi everyone! I performed a monologue called “Roads and Trenches”. It is about a guy, who comes up with a really strange request right after a couple’s engagement. I hope you will like and enjoy it! Thanks for watching!

The Monologue:
My request. Now, I know Dave, you already gave Sydney her engagement ring and all, and it’s pretty, but I have something – a favor – a meaningful favor to ask the both of you. You see, I have something that I’ve had on me since before the war – something I wanted to give to Sydney, before I was stationed, but thought it a bad omen if I did. I’m superstitious and didn’t want to bring about any bad luck on us at the time of our romance, but…anyway… this ring was to be the ring I was going to propose to Sydney with, back before; back when things were what they could have been..the only thing that sparkles with any truth nowadays is this ring, and in order for me to live out each rotten day of my future, in some screwed up psychological way, I believe I can make it through if you Dave were to give Sydney this ring and you Sydney were to wear it on your wedding day. I know my request might be—it would make me feel alive, and after all, I don’t think it’s too much to ask from either of you, is it?
