India's tax system punishes everyone except the government.

This is the point I raised in the video of why Maruti cars are losing weight over the years. Our tax system is not friendly to good cars, which is why low quality Maruti cars dominate our market.

Yeah I agree with toyata view, taxes should be based on how polluting the cars are rather than dimensions.
It's unfair for companies who have very good quality engines and they have to suffer because of stupid dimensions

True, bought a Nexon 8 months ago, the salesman showed me the actual price of the Nexon. Do you know Tata's cost of making a Nexon (xms) is only 6.45 lacs, profit included?, and we pay 9.45 lacs for it? ... 3 lacs in state and centeral taxes ... Itna profit per car pe to tata nahin banata... I knew auto pe taxes bhaut hai but on seeing how much taxes i paid for my car made me low key mad.

Toyota has one of the best cars around the world but the tax system here don't allow them to launch those incredible cars here in india. I lived in UAE for 10yrs and arabs value toyota more than BMW AUDI MERC which is opposite in india. Government should re model the taxes on cars so people can get good cars at lower prices which the Europeans and Americans get.

High taxation in India is a major hindrance in our development.

A great car company like toyota had to compromise in quality because of the harsh and unjust tax system of India, its a shame for our country and a great loss for the common man.

The fact that govt has kept cars and bikes under 28% GST by considering it a 'luxury item' is absurd. It is like saying common man shouldn't have a aspiration to buy a car. if it does, that is luxury. Considering its a high value item, GST should be minimal say 12%. Also abolish road tax. It should be illegal after GST implementation.

The fact is that Toyota earns only 40, 000 on selling fortuner and the government gets around 18lakh rs as taxes on the fortuner.... Thats why Chevrolet and ford have left india... And that's why car companies dont bring the quality cars in india... Fortuner in uae is far better than a fortuner in india power and quality wise... Indians can't have quality products because of this brutal taxation

The thing I've learnt so far by being in India, while being a car enthusiast is, to just buy a well taken care of used car. Quality anyway used to be better before and the styling imo also was better, prices have dropped down to the point of being on the bottom of the depreciation curve. So they're affordable, reliable, stylish and fun to drive. The only downside is the fitness check, which is a small price to pay!

In Australia we pay each year $800 for registration renewal that includes transport accident compensation levy. This is 40000 Indian rupees each year. Very expensive to keep vehicles. We have Toyota Prado and Toyota Camry Hybrid. Toyota makes reliable cars and we never had any problems so far.

Taxes are sucking the soul out of businesses in India
Apart from a few handful businessmen who are remotely running the government, everyone is going through hell

If the government wants to tax hybrid vehicles, then they cannot justify having an environment ministry. They can't even give us foreign type roads in Mumbai. Or even speedy completion of mass rapid transit.

I was also against Toyota rebadging maruti cars but after I saw this video now i get why they're doing it infact I support them cuz we Indians don't deserve good vehicles here because the govt here is simply looting the automakers n citizens in the name of taxes.

I think Govt. Should revise the taxation on cars, so that companies get more free hand to sell cars and ultimately the people will get benifits.
Great video like always 👌. Nicely explained

So true.
Taxation is sucking the Joy & Playfulness of citizens.
Like, paying 8Lakhs for 4Lakh worth Cars, or paying 40Lakh for 20 Lakh worth cars.
Many car companies are minimising their weight which "logically" defies more chaos in terms of safety & ruggedness.
Nowadays, Car Body frames are also too thin & lack hardness which is more dangerous for unfortunate incidences etc.

As per the Indian government rules, , all automative companies should improve mileage every year to the number of cars they sell or else they will have big fines. That is why every year a company will launch a facelift and claim big milage. Toyota had no options other than selling rebranded cars of Maruti. Every car brand in India is facing this issue.
