Humayun's tomb is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in New Delhi, India. The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum, and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad, the Persian architects. this magnificent red and white sandstone monument inspired several other significant architectural achievements, including the famous Taj Mahal in Agra. The Humayun tomb is built in Persian style and is also the first Indian structure to incorporate the Persian double dome where the outer structure supports the marble exterior and the inner one leads into the cavernous interiors. The tomb houses the remains of several additional eminent personalities of the Mughal era, including those of its founder, the emperor Bābur. Humayun’s Tomb is the first important example in India and a symbol of the powerful Mughal dynasty that unified most of the subcontinent.
