The water disappearing is a geographical event which happens due to no rain. The lake turns into saltdesert (or that's what we call them in here) So when there is no rain all the water evaporates and leaves only salt behind.

So while me and my friend were waiting for the even to happen. We were jumping on the beacons and it would give you a low-gravity effect but it would give you the purple like jump boost. The laser also would burn you if you stood in front of it. Pretty cool
