The Math behind the 70%/30% openers:
Your initial Stormbite and Caustic Bites have a combined average chance of 42.25% to NOT grant Straight Shot Ready.
This means a 57.75% chance that they will.
This means a 42.25% chance to open with Burst Shot, and a 57.75% chance to open with Refulgent Arrow.
Whenever you get a Refulgent Arrow, it means the follow-up will NEVER be Refulgent Arrow unless caused by Barrage. This means 57.75% of the time, you open with Refulgent Arrow Burst Shot, and 42.25% you open with Burst Shot, and THEN something.
Let's first focus on the 57.75%. The Burst Shot has a 35% chance to grant another Refulgent Arrow, and a 65% chance not to. Whether the follow up is Burst Shot or Refulgent Arrow decides whether you weave Sidewinder or Barrage. 35% of 57.75% is 20.21% chance you use Sidewinder, 37.54% (the remainder) is the chance you use Barrage.
Going back to the "unlucky start", of the 42.25%, 35% of that (14.79%) is the chance you get Refulgent Arrow. This 14.79% chance is guaranteed to lead to the Barrage Opener. Of the remaining 27.46%, 35% of THAT (9.61%) you get Refulgent Arrow, leading to the Sidewinder Opener. Leaving 17.85% chance to go with the Barrage Opener.
17.85%+14.79%+37.54% = 70.18% for Barrage Opener.
9.61% + 20.21% = 29.82% for Sidewinder Opener.

With Patch 6.4, Bard got some quality of life changes relating to areas of effect:
-> Mage's Ballad, Army's Paeon and Wanderer's Minuet now pulse their damage boosting buff in a 50 (FIFTY) yalm radius.
-> Battle Voice, Troubadour, Nature's Minne, Radiant Finale and Peloton now hit in a 30 yalm radius.

Bard is I remember playing bard and I would just spam my buffs, idk when should I use them. This definitely helps and I'll come back for more guides Caetsu \o/ ♥

Out of all the jobs I've tried so far, this by far feels the most complicated to come back to when in the lv60s lol. Once getting past the opener and getting the flow of that for a while, seems to be a lot better as afterwards its a proc / keep buffs up game.

When I first heard “Mage’s ballad should be cut at 34 seconds” the newbie part of my brain shouted “HOW YOU GONNA KNOW WHEN THAT IS?!” Then the logical part of my brain said “45 - 34 equals…yeah 11. Just hit it then.”

Just reached lvl 60. The later levels sound so complex but I'll just have to learn from repetition and practice.
