'Thaksin Shinawatra: Thailand Ex-PM JAILED After Return From Exile'

Thailand's ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been jailed within hours of returning to the country after years of self-imposed exile.

The former owner of Manchester City Football Club was prime minister from 2001 until he was ousted in a military coup in 2006.

His long-awaited return coincides with the election of a new Thai prime minister after a crucial parliamentary vote.

The new leader, Srettha Thavisin, is associated with the same political party as Mr Shinawatra.
