TD Ameritrade API Part 2: Authenticating with Python and tda-api

In this video, we introduce tda-api, a Python wrapper around the TD Ameritrade API. We register and create a TD Ameritrade app, get an API token, and use Chrome webdriver to complete the login flow. To verify that we are authenticated, we execute an API method to retrieve a stock quote for Boeing. Source code available at:

Hello Larry, thank you for the great video. I there a way to connect to paper trade account for testing? I am not sure why TD Ameritrade hasn't developed an API for a Paper trade account. Do they expect developers to test with real accounts?

For anyone having issues with the localhost refusing to connect.

Ensure you are using 'https' and not 'http' on the call back. This needs to be correct in both your python file as well as your app itself.

Because of the merge between TDAmeritrade and Charles Schwab, new developer account is not granted any more. So I cannot get a customer API key. How do I get around this?
