Phonemic segmentation demonstration

Watch a 3 year-old demonstrate phoneme segmentation. He can segment the first sound in words when given words with continuant consonants (i.e., sounds that can be continued--/s/, /m/, /l/, etc.)

If he can segment the initial sound in a word, then he is ready for Build It--the first activity we use to teach reading to beginners. See video examples of Build It and snag word list here:
