Jeff Jantz shares his mech for his latest puppet build and explains a little of the process and materials used for the build.

Materials used:
4inch schedule 30 PVC Pipe for housing
5/32 inch Nylon tubing for cable housing (this had to be special ordered)
Braided Fishing Line, 70lb test
PVC Strap for cable clamps
Springs, assorted variety box from Harbor freight
1/2 inch Aluminum Bar stock
Nuts bolts and hardware
3/4 inch copper pipe for trigger rings
3/4 inch plywood for trigger handle
JB Weld 2 part epoxy
1/8 inch Steel rod
Nylon spacers for bushings for steel rod, sold in the hardware section of building supply stores.

I suggest you try out 1mm ID 2mm OD ptfe tubing and .8mm nylon-coated steel beading wire. You can get pretty good push and pull for light things like eyelids without even using a spring, and the tighter tolerance means less slop.
