Knowing how to code vs. knowing how data works are two different things. A STEM degree helps you by not allowing Engineers to BS you. Perhaps you don't understand every facet of what they're doing, but you can sniff out bad arguments better than others.

I still think it's good to have a technical background as a PM. Helps make your life a lot easier in terms of understanding the plausibility of a project. I could be wrong though, I'm just an SE, not a PM!

Honestly, i think your PM salary is probably 5 times the average salary 😅 so no worries, you will be able to buy a house at some point, not a lot of children from immigrant parents can buy a house in the first 5 years (given you need to pay back student debt, pay for regular cost like food and rent and enjoy life ).

STEM is useless, you don't need stem degree for PM lol, you need Business/Marketing degree.
