Baby Seal Rescued from Poacher Net

Antoine, Denzil and Naude were out on patrol and noticed young Cape Fur Seal pup with a deep cut around his chest and shoulders. They also saw small bit of fishing line sticking out of the wound and decided to catch the animal to investigate further. It was early in the morning, and quite cold so the pup was calm on the beach and allowed them to get quite close before starting to run.
The pup was entangled in a small piece of gill net, which had caused a massive open would right around his body. As soon as the line was cut the animals relaxed and ran off to the safety of the water after release. These types of cuts are quite common, but this one was exceptionally deep. The cut did however look quite clean and the antibacterial nature of the salt water should heal him up in no time. 🦭
