Theory: The girl is a Downer, she's just really good at hiding it (like how Sally was in game).

• The pill that she gave him was from a bad batch. She knew this.

• She's the one who whispers "Open your eyes" to him.

• He snaps out of it too suddenly. She was intending for him to drop gradually so she could escape Wellington wells with him, hence her being so discreet, but he crashed too obviously and she had to abandon him or risk getting caught.

• The previous point is why she continues the charade while he's chased around, and leaves before the crowd gangs up on him. You can see her seemingly disappearing, she's behind him as they pin him down but isn't present when they're pouring Joy on him.

• It's why he dies alone. She couldn't risk trying to bring him out again, even after hours, it would be too obvious it was her doing in that case. Chances are she went forward with her plans to escape alone once seeing how he was too much of a risk and liability.

Edit: more evidence:

• "Someday the sun and moon might be gone though... I hate goodbyes" the bad batch is beginning to set in, he somewhat slipping. He's slightly aware of who she is, and what she wants from him.

• "I might not love you still, there is no tougher pill to swallow" there is obviously romantic connotations in this scene... It's highly possible they are in love, but it was caused by Joy and not their own doing. She's aware of this, but still cares about him enough to try to save him too. That eould explain her motive for forcing a bad reaction to joy from him.

• I noticed her dancing is a lot more organized than his. He stumbles around a bit and seems slightly disoriented at times, thanks to Joy, while she does not. Her exaggerated dance moves are to hide this from more observant eyes.

• Directly after the joy she gives him he does this weird body movement, almost as if eating something with an unexpected foul taste. Perhaps his body knowing something is off with the pill but not yet rejecting it?

My favorite thing about WHF is the tone and feel of everything, but my favorite bits are those related to everything is fine and dandy until the Joy starts to wear off, and shit starts getting real.

Needless to say, I felt as if you guys captured that perfectly with the song, but you did an even more amazing thing by making...well, this! Awesome stuff!

I think she gave him a crash pill. It's a pill in the game that instantly removes the effects of joy in your system. Must of messed him up really bad coming off his joy that quick.

I'm currently at a psychiatric hospital and today we were supposed to play a song for the music group that makes us happy and I didn't even have to think twice when I chose this song. 🥰 Everyone loved it and I think it got some more people interested in the game as well! 🌈💊🍄❤

I absolutely love how they nailed something that some 60's bands do in their planned out music videos. They feigned playing their music, they even got saxophone some times in between when there very clearly isn't a saxophonist present, and the drummer lightly taps the drums and symbols.
