"I'm quite surprised that actually works" - the whole inside of the breaker will be conductive right? Not just the screw? So the bare ends of the wire will be doing the conduction.

Cant blame the previous eicr when you don't really know??? U can test without removing cables!

I have wondered about the balance of risks of doing EICRs. The first one I'm sure would find all sorts of horrors, but once an installation is good is there a risk of too many inspections causing more faults? Not just this type of thing but weakening copper by removing / reinserting wires for testing - unless the ends are re-stripped, but there isn't always length for that.

, it’s a double screw connection, they hit the copper with the other screw, you can see the mark

This is a bit fibby
That’s an old wylex db originally using 3036 rewireable fuses
The phase cable goes into a double screwed busbar and the fuse or mcb is just a stab blade design, just remake the end before replacing, the lower screw is fully in contact anyway,
This is the point of inspection and testing it’s not just writing numbers on a form.it’s about making sure everything is made off correctly, tight and secure,

"Pretty dangerous" - talk about making something out of nothing... The whole of the connector body is conductive and has two wire clamps...

How can they not hit the copper ???? That type has Two lock down screws ….. so one screw was doing its job ……. And that board yes old shows no problems in its 40 years …. Yes needs changing but don’t criticise others work which artisan seems to love doing
