My Tasmanian Nightscapes Road Trip continues with a stop off at the beautiful Lake Mackintosh. Close to the sleepy town of Tullah in the north west of Tasmania this beautiful location is a perfect spot for some nightscape photography.
The weather wasn't co-operating however and I had to work hard to get any shots. But in the end I'm very pleased with what I got.
My nightscapes in Tasmania series will continue with the next episode from the mysterious and amazing Ben Lomond National Park.

Sorry it didn't quite pan out for you, still a very enjoyable video and great images to. Tasmania looks amazing. I loved your comment about making the most of your local area and locations. I can be pretty negative about where I live as it is flat and fairly featureless, that is going to change. It certainly isn't mountainous or jurassic but what we do have is a lot of coastal wrecks, windmills and castles, which I hope will feature well with night photography. I think I have decided on the Rokinon 14mm f2.4. It looks a good blend of quality, focal length, weight and cost. The Sigma 14mm Art looked an excellent lens but cost and weight swayed me towards the Rokinon. Thank you for your help and advice. I'm like everyone else looking forward to the next episode in your Tassie trip.

Thank you Richard for sharing also videos showing frustrating nights. That happens anyway and it is good for an amateur like me to see that a professional nightscape photografer has also to struggle with conditions that cannot be changed. By the way, the landscape with the mountains and lake could also be located in my home country, Austria. So your approach to those locations is very interesting for me and I am going to watch also your other Tasmanian videos. All the best, Günter

Fantastic advice about your own backyard and it’s beauty. I also think that I’d be absolutely over the moon with images that you are frustrated getting. Once again spectacular images although there was some cloud cover. I think that this clouds actually add to the images. Although you were after the milky way core they were still stunning.

I agree Richard, Tasmania is so gorgeous. I can’t wait to get back there. Love the drone footage mate, spectacular stuff mate. I also enjoyed the creative shots of the wonderful rainforest, shame how some people just dump their rubbish. Stunning shots Richard, looking forward to the rest of the series.

Although the clouds did not allow to take shots of the Milky Way, I thank you for sharing your good experiences through this video. I am always looking forward to the new tutorial that you will share, as they are very well explained and very well done.

Yeah, I hate it when the clouds roll in, especially when you drive an hour or more after the weather said it was only going to be partly cloudy then find out you can't see a star in site all night lol. Even more disheartening on a big trip like this of course, but as you say, it's still enjoyable to visit just the same and you're video came out great anyway too.
