I feel like part of why its not turning out right is that it maybe needs to come up higher behind the sink. Both of them looked a bit too small to me.

I actually like the cooper idea.. if it had some texture and rounded back towards the wall 😮

Hi! Set designer here:) The main issue here is the clashing shapes: the sink counter is a hard square, the sink is a rounded square and your mirror is waved.
Not to mention, the clashing style of the sink itself and the copper not matching the other hardware (gunmetal and gold already present. The faucet is lovely and matches the overall aesthetic. You're totally right in where it looks better without any backsplash, but it would either need to match the hardware of the rest of the space, or put a matte clear vinyl to not damage your beautiful wallpaper ✨

The copper looks beautiful there. I think the scale is off, it should come up a bit higher and adding a hammered finish to the copper would make it look more finished and intentional. 😊it looked great!

I really liked the copper personally. I just think it may be the placement. Try bringing it up higher. You definitely need a backsplash so your wallpaper doesn’t eventually get ruined. jmo! The bathroom turned out beautiful! 😻

maybe have square backsplash as the sink is also square? so it flows more? like if u had a round sink, have a round backsplash?

Clear glass is a option. Can still see the wallpaper while protecting it.

That backsplash would amazing for a garden hose faucet or patio area. I would still find a use for it!

the first backsplash looks like a really cool stepping stone or maybe a unique shape outdoor table or shelf.

I hated the backsplash but I LOVE the bathroom. It turned out fabulous.

I liked both but neither felt a good fit for the wallpaper. Thank you for sharing the process. That's life!

I really liked the copper sheet; though, I didn't really like the shape of it.

However, I'm glad that you found what you liked.

Thank you for sharing.

I used elephant skin paint (it’s a literal translation, I don’t know what it’s called in English) in my kitchen to protect the wall. It’s basically a clear waterproof paint you can simply wipe down when wet or dirty. (It’s also often used by families when kids paint on walls.) And it can simply be painted over again. Might be something for your bathroom too. Still liked both options you had tho! You’re so talented!

I think the last backsplash would have been great if it was shaped rectangular with rounded corners.

I think that maybe having a panel of copper going from the ceiling to the floor, framing the mirror would actually look nice, or something similar to that. Maybe ever create dimension, add brick and it comes out of the wall a little bit?

The copper looked nice but maybe it needed to be slightly taller/bigger so it goes under the mirror about 2-3 inches. It will look as a space instead of a divider. The base can be folded to stop it from sinking or slipping between the wall and sink.

Your bathroom design is absolutely gorgeous, you should be proud!

The first backsplash was beautiful but the style just didn't work with the rest of the bathroom.

I think you copper choice was definitely the better of the two, as the colour and material choice definitely complimented the rest of the room. I think the shape of the copper cut-out might have been the issue and also the placement.

Might I suggest for placement that the backsplash overlaps the bottom part of the mirror; and for shape, try two circles, perhaps slightly different in size and position them almost like to picture frames that overlap.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will look fabulous and we are here to enjoy the journey with you :-)

Love the copper. Maybe try a new shape? I think a rectangle that is longer than the sink would be cute! I am specifically thinking rectangle with the right and left sides being squiggly 〰️〰️〰️

I think the first backsplash reject would look great as a little sidetable! I imagine three round wood legs, thicker at the top to thinner at the bottom and set on a slight angle. Spontaneously I'd say a wood colour similar to the mirror's frame would match the best.
Hope you consider my idea, or at least get inspired by it, if you see it! ❤
