When I'm rendering in 3d max with corona render the environment is so bright fells like I'm on the surface of the Sun, I've tried many options nothing seems to work what can I do?

So.... what if you do this, make sure you hit save, but it still defaults to Arnold every time?! So strange. I am even getting the dialogue confirming that the save went through after I hit Save as defaults but it still opens up Arnold instead.
