The Immaculate Heart of Mary is a devotional name used to refer to the interior life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, her joys and sorrows, her virtues and hidden perfections, and, above all, her virginal love for God the Father, her maternal love for her son Jesus, and her compassionate love for all people.

The Eastern Catholic Churches occasionally utilize the image, devotion, and theology associated with the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

However, this is a cause of some controversy, some seeing it as a form of liturgical latinisation.

The Roman Catholic view is based on Mariology, as exemplified by Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae.

Traditionally, the heart is depicted pierced with seven wounds or swords, in homage to the seven dolors of Mary.

Also, roses or another type of flower may be wrapped around the heart.

Thank you Father great reflections, good that you mentioned the sword that pierced the side of Jesus is also the sword that pierced the already Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The key word here At the Foot of the Cross is "BEHOLD".
The Name of God YAHWEH or YVHV in Hebrew Tetragammaton means "BEHOLD THE HAND BEHOLD THE NAILS"
So, Mary & St.John representing all the redeemed was commanded by Jesus to BEHOLD each other.
The Mystery is in the BEHOLD, we cannot gaze At the Foot of the Cross without the help of Mary we cannot fathom the meaning of the infinite sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we need the Wisdom of the Pierced Heart of Mary to understand it's mystery.
With the piercing of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Proverbs9:1 mystery is unlock Mary Seven Sorrows represented by Seven Swords received or house the Sevenfold Gifts of the Holy Spirit in Her Sorrowful & Immaculate Heart.
That's why at Pentecost the Holy Spirit enters thru the golden door of Mary's Immaculate Heart, that's why while the Apostles tounges of fire is on their Head to Infused Knowledge of the Mysteries, Mary on the otherhand it was Her Immaculate Heart that was set on fire....the hewn dwelling place for the Holy Spirit to mystically dwells fully & perfectly.
And who is the Spirit of Truth in the Upper Room, St. Kolbe's teaching on "quasi-incarnation" will unlock another mystery.

{ my note - Our Mother Mary gave a prayer for us to say to Our Lord Jesus, but I just have this one for now to Mother Mary. At another time I will do the one she gave Sr. Josefa to pray to Him.
