The solution will have a salty taste because of the sodium citrate formed from the reaction resulting in an unpleasant drink. It's best to react the lemon juice/vinegar (acid) and the sodium bicarbonate (base) in a separate container with a connecting tube that bubbles the carbon dioxide into the water in a separate container.

Don't forget to cool the drink before generating the co2, cold liquids can hold more dissolved co2!😊

Make sure the baking soda you use is food grade. Arm and hammer brand is good to be ingested but it has aluminum. While aluminum is not that bad in small amounts continuous use may cause alzheimer's disease or brest cancer. Baking soda is a good thing to give alkalinity your body. 🙂👍

so my question to you is before I spend hundreds of dollars on a home seltzer maker maybe if I am poor it would be cheaper just to mix some citric acid and baking soda in my favorite drink instead so for instance if i were to add it to coconut water I guess it would now be sparkling coco nut water ? thoughts please thank you!

Guys just so you know baking soda in large amounts can end up killing you or make you nauseous vommit stuff like that.
