Hammer and chisel time! I need to get those pesky bugs out of my Hotlix Lollipop and taste those bugs!

Lucky Penny Thoughts: I have to say the strawberry lollipop was really tasty! Once I chiseled out my worm, I was able to see for sure that it was real. I did try a small piece of the work with a little lollipop. You could taste a little of the bug flavor, not that I know what bugs taste like! I guess you know it is a different flavor then the actual lollipop. Mixed together you can hardly tell. Normally you would not dissect the worm out and just eat it slowly, so as not to get a lot of bug flavor all at the same time. the scorpion was a much greater challenge to get out of the lollipop. I was able to isolate its body and then re-constitute it in water to take a closer look. This was a fun candy to dissect and study in the Lucky Penny Shop candy lab!

The point of these lollipops is you're not supposed to crack them open with tools just to see the bug part, it's to lick the lollipop until you get to the bug like the tootsie pops.

Oh my... this brings back unpleasant memories ^^' I brought one of these to class and told everyone I saw that I was going to eat the scorpion... And when I did, I nearly vomited all over my ceramics project. Those bugs are truly foul-tasting.

Hey! As a person with misophonia, I get triggered by eating noises and get very upset and cry or get very angry. I really appreciate the warning in the begging.

I love the fact that those are real bugs. I think it's amazing that people would eat those. I wouldn't, because I find bugs gross, but I went to school with a girl who brought one back from vacation and a boy in our class ate one. I think it had a grasshopper or cricket in it though. She had a scorpion one too. Very weird. I think since it is sugar if you put it in a bowl with some boiling water the sugar would melt off after a while and you would be left with a whole scorpion. :)
