The two-week-old snake was born with two distinct heads. The heads emerge from one shared body, extending just a few centimeters from the fork in its neck. Each head lucidly examines their (or its) environment, flicking two distinct tongues through the air.

The snake (or snakes) was brought to celebrity vet Dr. K, short for Dr. Susan Kelleher, who owns an exotic animal care practice in southern Florida. The vet, and the bizarre cases she treats, are the subject of the Nat Geo WILD TV show Dr. K.

It was Dr. T (Lauren Thielen), another vet at the practice, who x-rayed the two-headed snake. That process revealed an even rarer twist in its anatomy. Unlike other two-headed animals that tend to share internal organs, the snake appears to have two hearts.

One of the heads wasn't tongue flicking, though. And it seemed less alert than the other.

2 headed snakes? With 2 hearts? Hope they can grow and become a strong one. Weird, but incredible. I wonder, do they eat for two or just one? Thanks National Geographic for sharing.

When I was in Malaysia, I was told of a legend there that if you saw a two headed snake, put your hand in the middle of its heads and it will crawl on your hand and transform to a bracelet that would give you unimagible powers

So maybe two headed dragons are just a rare mutation rather than a species?

These kind of snake were common in East Africa, though not in large number, we call them dumakuwili in swahili.

Snakes and turtles with 2 heads are much more common than in most animals.
For some reason they can also survive a lot longer with this condition.

The "You'll never be alone" takes a new whole sense 😂
By the way sometimes they just look like cuddling when they put their head on each other.
Super cute.
