Focus only on Nintendo Switch?

With the Nintendo Switch being out a year now, why is Nintendo still pushing the 3ds? They even just released three new ones-- Animal Crossing, Zelda Hylain Shield, and Minecraft.

Why not ? Let’s be fair, the 3DS is a true handheld, can’t stick my Switch in my pocket and be about my day. Just hope they keep making solid titles for it or show us the next iteration.

far out, i don't understand why anyone is comparing the 3ds series with the switch. they are totally different systems.

I’m really sick of everyone trying to rid the 3DS just so Nintendo can only focus on the Switch

I don't mean to be rude but stupid question.. Because it still makes them profits and some people like collecting them

Keep it alive, it’s a great alternative if you don’t want to buy a switch. (I’m a little biased, I own both a switch and 2ds xl) but the 3DS has lots of great games and some upcoming new ones I’m looking forward to (Luigi’s Mansion, you know the game that people wanted on the switch? Yeah.)

And I’m not being crazy, I use my New 2ds more than my switch.

The 3DS continues to survive because people want something portable that they don't have to be worried about. I can grab a 3DS and throw it in the pocket of my trousers or jacket and not have to worry. That's not something you can do with the Switch, sure it can fit in my trouser or jacket packets but it's a tight fit and I have to worry about damaging the screen and joycons.

To realy use the Switch portably you have to take a bag with you and that's something I never do. In a way I think the Switch has a Kinect problem, they both expect you to change your life style to let it fit in, rather than fitting in to your existing life.

I bought the new 2ds XL day one because I like Nintendo and as a student money isnt growing on trees so the switch wasn't an option.

I feel like the Nintendo Switch ruined the portable handheld market. Now no one wants or even like the 3ds anymore nor do they want a successor.

The Nintendo Switch can't fit in my pocket! The Nintendo Switch doesn't have a clamshell design! The Nintendo Switch can get it's screen scratched! The new games are 60$+

Not saying Nintendo Switch isn't a good system, it's a great system. But it feels different than Nintendo's line of handhelds.

I'm still have my doubts about the Minecraft New Nintendo 2DS XL, but I love the Animal Crossing design though.

I still use my 3ds all the time mainly because the 3ds is small enough to fit in my pocket while the switch can not and I don’t feel like carrying a bag.

Maybe you guys don't care, but there's still a lotta people outside of America, Europe, and Japan who can't afford a Switch. Where I come from, the Switch doesn't come with a $299 price tag. The economy in my country is so shitty, that $299 American dollar is actually $1400 in disguise. Heck even the New 3DS still costs around $1000 bucks here.

I have a secondhand N3DS that I bought for $750 last year (Switch still costed around $2000 at that time) and Nintendo saying that they'll still support the 3DS till 2019 and beyond is music to my ears (even though they probably won't really go "beyond". But still). So Switch owners can suck it up and let Nintendo handle their products the way they wanted to.

Nintendo recently said they are working on a 3ds successor. Either way, the company has always had two lines of systems one handheld and one console. I honestly think they should keep making 3ds systems for at least a year. They can do a price cut on the two models. Also, they're leaving money on the table because they could sell the gba and ds pokemon games as downloads and make bank, among other gba and ds games.

After owning a Switch, I recently just bought a N2DS XL. I found the portability and games on N2DS XL to be perfect for a handheld system. Switch is indeed amazing, but it's true that the 3ds family systems are better at pure handheld gaming. There are so many games I now wanna play on my N2DS XL, it's crazy.

The switch should not replace the 3ds (as it currently is). The switch is a HOME CONSOLE first that can be played portably if needed. Nintendo has already released software that is home console exclusive like labo and 12 switch. 3ds is dedicated handheld and has cheaper games meant for handheld play.

You forgot to mention that Satoru Iwata (R.I.P.) took a 50% paycut when the 3DS failed in addition to the Ambassador program for those who bought one at launch.

I can’t believe we all grew up playing game boys and yet seem to forget the fact that the handhelds are also made for children too. Not just milennials. We buy the switch, children get more rough and Tumble hardware. I have a new 3ds xl and I play it when I don’t feel comfortable being my switch somewhere. I don’t like leaving my switch in the car or certain places I go I don’t like the risk of bringing my switch. A lot of rambling to say “children like the ds and handholds” and if I was a parent I wouldn’t buy my kid a switch. They’d get a ds. Children = a considerable handheld gaming market. They’re not getting a vita, that’s for sure lmao
