Thank you for an excellent explanation, but I think the comparison of surface energy is not true. Because I found it in "nanostructures & Nanomaterials, synthesis, Properties & Application, Guozhong Cao" book that explains it like this: surface energy(100)>surface energy(110)>surface energy(111).
You can find it on pages 18 to 19 in this book.
