Kris Meeke tests Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak | Top Gear

For the December issue of Top Gear magazine, we asked Kris Meeke to have a go in the Pikes Peak-dominating, 875bhp Peugeot T16. Here's a teaser of what happened...

I've gone to Pikes Peak every year since I was a kid. The shear acceleration that thing had off the line was amazing. I've never seen any car, on the mountain or off, accelerate like that before.

I'm not really a Peugeot guy, but I have to give them mad props for a job well done, and it was a huge pleasure to meet Sebastian Loeb. He is a super nice guy and one amazing driver.

875 bhp in a 875 kg (1929 lb) car. 1000 bhp per tonne! This is a proper race car. In the Pikes Peak hill climb the record was 9:46. Sebastian Loeb ran it in a 208 T16 in 8:13! Those are crazy numbers!

i got to see this car fly by me this year at pikes peak. also saw loeb testing the set up the day before the climb at  local race track in colorado. i stood literally an inch from this amazing beast

Pikes Peak competition vehicles are always mentally fast! the Suzuki Escudo always springs to my mind at the very mention of the event!

Exactly Bugatti is the first ROAD LEGAL car to have 1000 bhp but that does not mean it is the first car to have 1000 bhp also Bugatti is HEAVY a car with way less horse power but better power to weight ratio, is going to beat Bugatti on track any day, althou it may not beat it's top speed, but yea if u wanna drag race 10 miles then bugatti is the best!

seen this car in 2013 at goodwood! by far the fastest car there! gave the f1 cars a hard time up the hill.

I'm weeping. Damn life, if a race driver is rendered speechless by this car's power, what could we say!!!! This is not fair, we should all have this car :(

about being close to F1. i thought i'd look it up and im quite suprised how NOT close this is. F1 0-100kmh in 1.7 (well that is close ;) ) but 0-200kmh in 3, 8s and 0-300 in 8.6s. just imagine regular people (no racingdriverwhatsoever people) having a drive in a sportscar then in a hypercar and then a drive in the 208 peugoet and THEN finally in an F1 car. seriously, who would think it would be possible to go faster every damn time you leave one of those machines? i've never been in a fast car :(
