It is a real shame for the story, that they ignored this part of their relationship so completely. They did not have to make it as "juicy", lets say, as in the novel, but at least give us something, to show the real depth of their connection and love for each other. I'd go so far as to say, that it would have been worth it, if they had let someone else, in another, not so restrictive country, film the damn series, if that would have meant, that they could have left just some of it in.
Because as beautiful as the series is, and no matter how good of a job the actors did - as a viewer, you really feel, that "something" is just missing, and only when you know what it is, does it make proper sense. This is not just a tale about BFFs, fighting for justice... It is indeed - a rather epic and passionate lovestory!!
