I work at a lap pool. The thing that really annoys me are the Pro swimmers who feel entitled to swim more then the old ladies or the not so great swimmers. I get it, you’re a pro athlete, but not everybody is. The majority are here to better themselves and you need to respect it. Drives me nuts.

Yes! I do believe masters is worth it. If one is lucky enough to have a seasoned coach, like yourself 😁👍💕, then the varying different swim talents shouldn't matter. Separate us! 😆 I am lucky enough to have been on a team with amazing coaching with the mental fortitude to keep each interval at that lanes ability, send us all off at the same time while giving all of us a good workout. I know the top lane(s) athletes swim like a boss (sharks). I have something to admire and aspire to. I realize I will never get the millions of hours those swimmers have in their arsenal base, they started when they were six, nine or 12! But at least I visually can see what I'm supposed to look like and I CAN look like that, with my own speed and in my appropriate lane, which, btw is NOT the slowest lane either! Ha! I'm right smack in the middle. And I'm pleased with myself for being where I'm at. I have been training masters since 2005 (swimming properly since 2000) when I got on my fist masters team in Guam. It couldn't've been better than that at the time, Guam was magic for me.
Now I live back home in a city and I train with amazing coaches, I have a ton of fun and the discipline to get up every morning before dawn - sometimes for no other reasons than to be accountable to your team mates is priceless.
I LOVE swim and I LOVE swimming on a team. It is a rewarding experience and continues to teach me all kinds of things about myself - not just swimming, but how to dig in deep, how to be supportive of others, how to motivate, how to be motivated, to show patience, respect, loyalty a lot of things you didn't know you had to relearn like being kind and fair - as I mentioned, accountability. It all plays a role in your mental game to improve your physical game. The discipline of swimming will sow up in other areas of your life and teach you discipline in those areas too....and I haven't even spoken about the benefits both health-wise and of course aesthetic-wise, HA!
Swimming is a life skill that soothes me. I LOVE to swim! 🏊🏽‍♀️🌊🌊🌊🌊

I tried Masters Swimming at my local pool and it didn't work out well for me!
My coaches kept on yelling at me in a mean way because of the way I swam!!😞😞😞

ONLY my “Main Coach” REALLY TRULY liked my swimming speed!!
He loved it so much that he moved me up with the fast-level swimmers!!

But I can't decide if it's worth it doing it again AFTER the Covid pandemic.

Plus from my experience with
“Special Olympics”(Swimming); my coaches there do NOT yell at me when I swim!!
The swim practices are more enjoyable, and REALLY supportive!!🙂🙂
They still push us hard in our “skill level” at swim practice, but I DONT have any annoying mean people yelling at me the whole time!!🙂

Which side should I be on?

I'm not really sure I understand what you are saying here. While I have some reservations about USMS I am pretty sure I, as an African American man that learned and joined my local Masters club at 61, have been insulted. I've been viewing your videos for awhile and rarely if ever see anyone who looks like or swims like me! So again I'm not sure I get what your saying. No there are times and reasons I don't get USMS, but my experiences with my local club are varied, enriching and at times in contradiction to the organization mission statement. On the other hand based upon a lot that I've seen on your site the similarities between MyPro and USMS are equal in asking ' Is it worth it'. While I have obtained a great deal of information from your channel I'm perplexed. Mike

At the age of 67 learning free style . I can swim flat . But when I start rotating my hip and arm . I just can’t do it forget about breathing with side mouth . Where I am going wrong ? What drill practice I must do ?? Should I concentrate on glide first ??? I am trying this for month . Try all the possible drills . It’s certain I am thinking wrong to hit at proper drill . Will you please help me ?? 🙏from India

I just tried a Master Swim class last week and I wasn't a fan. Too many people. Not enough individual training. And overall, it wasn't enjoyable.
