Actually it is a good advice, but not for everyone. It's good for younger people, with no families yet and no purpose in life, those that stay with their parents, play video games all day and criticize the society, but behind all that they are lazy and crazy insecure. So for them I think this advice lands very well.

My personal experience: this is terrible advice. I'm 34 only just now finding my footing in life. I'm way behind than where I believe I should be. I can't regret EVERY thing that I've tried, career wise, but my attention has been so divided for so many years and it's hurt more than helped.

I recommend trying things too. But not everything. Narrow your focus and evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and your likes and dislikes after you've tried some things. Get to know yourself and don't get so excited about every opportunity that sounds easy. Hopefully by age 24 or 25 your well on your way.
