Muhammad Ali was the greatest mind, speed and durability in boxing history. Sonny Liston was the scariest monster of a human inside the ring of boxing. But a gentlemen outside of the ring most of the time around a lot of people. Sonny was misunderstood and still is one of the most underrated fighters in history. As of today in modern boxing history there wouldn't be a single boxer that could beat Liston, Liston would literally kill them, people like Jake Paul for example. The fight between Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston has a lot of depressing backstory. The first fight was due to Liston's shoulder injuries and age. The second fight was his the rigged one setup by the mob from new jersey, top 10 most wanted men of the US. There's a lot of story to it but I won't continue explaining it here. Liston was getting beaten so badly that his own corner tried to cheat by putting vaseline or some sort of gel on Liston's gloves. If you watch the fight back, there is a point where Ali is struggling and the commentator makes note that something had gotten into Ali's eyes and the corner tried pouring water and wiping whatever was on his face off.
