Attaching $6k of camera equipment to my truck windshield just for one shot. Heres the whole process and what you'll need to achieve the same shot.

Didn't even end up using the shot, BUT I learnt a ton, always be learning :)

I'll give props to anyone willing to put their camera outside of the car they are driving just for us to watch. Great video and please don't do that too much. It wasn't even my camera and my anxiety was on 10/10

That was complex but I can imagine the shot or what it could be. Very creative. The Peak Design strap was a great idea. Take care.

Good job. The light didn’t do much but I think you really made a smooth 9:19 minute video that I enjoyed. Like your style

Nice setup. Glad it worked. I have a cpl coming today but to get rid of glare on my glasses from my light.

Nice. I have the TRI holder that I have yet to try. I'll mount it on the hood and zoom in a little. Thanks. This was a good start.

Do you have examples for shooting at night? I'm making a short mostly in a car at night. This was super helpful though

Thanks for sharing Chris! I was looking for a reliable mount like this one.

Would you perhaps get a similar effect by using a white diffuser, sitting on the passenger seat to bounce light from outside into the cabin?

One question I’ve always wondered is, is it legal to record while driving. As in can you get in trouble if your caught filming

Hi Chris,

Test and learn! Thanks for the sacrifices.

Btw, I just got the Zeapon Micro 2 Plus slider yesterday and testing it with the Hyla Suction Cups on the windows indoor and they seem to hold well. I’m going to try and mount it on the car hood and see how it fairs. Will try it with my Gopro 9 and Insta360 1” first before having the guts to add my mirrorless cameras next. Check them out. It’s pretty strong.

Well done Chris, that's exactly the type of problem solving situations i like to play with. I'll admit the 3 cup & gimbal idea might be even better, although that much more risky. Looking at your footage also got my mind going and i was imagining a night shot going through a well lit tunnel. It could make a very dynamic scene with the neon light reflection's rolling off the windshield (see what i mean ?). I was also wondering, was it hard for you to get use to driving on the right side of the road ? (just kidding)

Good video I also use a fat gekko 3 but set it up for auto photography of other cars - i mount mine on the roof and tether it it to my roof very similar to your set up

I gave this a go in one of my videos a month or two ago! Nervous was an understatement lmao
