I asked tourists and foreigners on the streets of Singapore's Chinatown about their real opinions: whether they like their trip here, what they dislike, if they think Singapore is expensive, and if they agree with people saying Singapore is boring.
Let me know in the comments what your opinion about Singapore is and if you are planning to visit soon! 🤗

I'm from the UK, first visited Singapore in 2005, it's such a lovely, fascinating, forward thinking country, I've been 40+ times! 🤩😍

Singapore is really safe some years back while burning midnight oil for studies, i wanted a snack at nearby 7-11, mom said its around 2am it might still be unsafe for solo female, i went and on my way i saw solo female jogging along the road footpath, i told my mom that and said she worried too much lol. Living in a very safe country is priceless, such freedom that comes from safety is priceless 😊

I am from Nepal. I have been in singapore and stayed there for almost 3 years during my study. Before my study i was there for few days 2-3 times. It was before 2007. I found singapore is a perfect city to live for any individual with thier family. Singapore is safe, multicultured, lot of opportunities, centrally located, warm weather, very systematic and perfect law and order and lot of positivity that gives you positive vibes. If you are planning to visit as a tourist, you can eperience a modern city with Chinese, Malay and indian culture in one city.

hahaha the China tourist is the epitome of her country's stereotype - materialising true in person. That was interesting because I do also keep seeing comments still that SG is boring. I've lived here all my life. I've yet to find it boring! How you continue to be curious, to learn and discover things about this small island is quite amazing. There is still yet more to find out about - our history and the context of its people is deeper than what most people think.

I can confidently say that Singapore is the best country to live in the whole world. Safety, clean streets, friendly and polite people, a lot of greenery and trees and clean air. Caring for people and the environment is also visible everywhere - all shopping centers have rooms for children, defibrillators on the walls, waste separation, etc. This is the only country where I did not worry about crime, even at night I could calmly walk the streets and not be afraid of thefts. Yes, there may not be many noisy places for entertainment in Singapore, but for people like me who value safety, peace and comfort, as well as mutual respect between people, this is the best place. I would also like to note the absence of smoking in public places. In my country they don't follow this and it's annoying. I was in Singapore for 2 weeks and it was the best time of my life. Here for the first time I felt truly happy, I forgot about all my problems and anxious thoughts. I have never encountered any rudeness or misunderstanding in Singapore. Even the airport staff treat all tourists very well. When I returned from Singapore, I was depressed for a month. For a long time I did not want to realize the new reality that I was not there, but already in another country. Thank you to all the people of Singapore for creating such a wonderful place! You managed to build an ideal country, and if you told me what else could be improved in Singapore, I would have to think for a very long time, because I did not find a single flaw. My dream now is to build a startup with enough valuation to one day become a Singaporean citizen.

P.S. Prices are also not very high, lower than in Western Europe. I stayed at the Four Seasons for only $500 a night, in Paris it costs $2000 a night. Separately, it is worth mentioning Singapore Airlines, which has been considered the best in the world for many years; the flight with you was amazing.

It really depends on what you prefer if you wish to visit Singapore.

What I like about Singapore:
1. Safety and efficiency (Buses and Trains are well connected)
2. Very diverse culture (Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian, Nyonya, etc.)
3. A small city where you can get almost everything (Most of the international brands are here)
4. Affordable
- From a local point of view - DO NOT BUY WATER FROM 7-ELEVEN UNLESS NECESSARY! It's more affordable to buy from the supermarkets such as Fairprice, Giant, Sheng Siong, Prime
- Eating at hawker centers

What I do not like about Singapore
1. The weather is humid
2. Expensive*
Hotels: I can't dispute on this, it's expensive as compared to the neighbouring countries.
Restaurants: Be prepared to fork out additional 10% service charge + 9% GST. However, no tipping is required.
Taxis: Yes, it's not going to be cheap, just stick with the bus/MRT

If you are travelling on tight budget, you may not enjoy Singapore as much compared to your home country. However, if you are willing to splurge a bit, you'll be amazed by the things you can experience in Singapore.

Personally if you go dine in a restaurant every day, it is expensive. China can be expensive too especially Shanghai and Beijing. China is big but not for me as a local Singaporean. She better not go to Europe since Singapore considers expensive for her.

Haha, Swizzyinsg you are so ‘fortunate’ to have met such an `insensible' tourist from China. Have seen numerous interviews on YT with tourists from China with their travelling experience in Singapore and almost all of them in a certain degree do like and enjoy their stay in Singapore, this lady is indeed a special exception. But then again, she also has the right to express her own views 👌

Singapore is compact but far from boring. It is predictable in a good way. Where ever u go you will find cleanliness, orderlinesss and an abundance of good to great food. There is so much to discover and enjoy without having to travel much.

I am a local in SG.
Bus and train is between 1 -2 USD
Local food (a rice meal or noodle meal with a coffee or soft drink) at the hawker centre and local coffee shop is below USD5.
Mid range restaurant meal, a main meal is USD 15-25.

Welcome to China, China is very good. Yeh, if she wouldn't say that, she'd get deductions on her social score in China.

if you talk about the exchange rate, then basically Singapore is expensive compared to most Asian countries and Australia. But if you do not convert, Singapore is basically very cheap in terms of transport, food, groceries and stuffs. Not many things cost above 3 digits, unless it's meant to cost that much.
