NEW ORLEANS - For the second time in as many days, Tulane baseball shutout crosstown rival New Orleans, as the Green Wave benefitted from a career-best pitching performance by junior Emerson Gibbs in route to a 4-0 win to recapture the First NBC Cup at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Wednesday night.

Gibbs (2-0) picked up his first-career victory as a starting pitcher during his time with Tulane (8-1) after tossing 7.0 innings of two-hit ball while fanning a career-high seven. Gibbs did not allow a hit to a New Orleans (4-5) batter until there were two outs in the top of the seventh inning. The Jesuit product walked just two in the game.
