The Z8 announcement means two things. The Z9 will be refreshed immensely after Canon announces the R1 next year and that the R7 iii will be announced in October and will be 61 megapixel or better capable of 8k30.

Nikon has discovered the next big thing, Back Side Illuminated stacked sensors with a global shutter. Not having a mechanical shutter saves them a fortune an minimizes camera shake. Look for Nikon to do this with all of their mirrorless cameras.

Wow. Leaks coming steady now. Can’t believe it’s really a stacked sensor!

For the last 20 yrs I've been both Canon and Nikon user for specifically wildlife both had their advantages. Always loved Canon for wildlife lenses and Nikon for their bodies. Since mirrorless I'm loving the Nikon long lenses much more and really just waiting for the Z8, I really had wished the R5 was stacked and with the R7 was just a cheap effort by Canon not stacked like an XH2s or the OM-1 it didn't interest me. The R3 was amazing but 24mp not so amazing for crop mode (wildlife) although superb for sports. If these Z8 specs become firm there's no point waiting for a stacked R5 they've lost the plot a bit for UK prices the new 100-300mm is silly money not that I want it anyway only want affordable long primes (Nikon does a good job). I really should have moved to just Nikon a long time ago. I may replace my old Canon stuff for a nice portable OM-1 kit for hiking. (OM-1/300mm F4) and Nikon for the main.

Any mention of a dust cover over the sensor while changing lenses?

Try an export in H.265. My stuff has started to process in minutes. Maybe they flipped the switch to prefer HEVC ingest.

Hey Simon! Just wanted to appreciate you and everything you're doing, your channel is one of the first things I check in the morning, after taking kids to the kindergarten. The fact that you're fast to deliver the info is impressive but that's not the only reason your channel is growing. One of the things I like about it is the quality of presentation and your own expertise which allows you to compare different cameras and even predict, fairly accurately, what might happen next. So kudos to you and don't worry about YT's speed :)
I was hoping that the Z8's going to be a competitive camera to Canon's and Sony's R5s because Nikon is so far behind in that segment and it's absolutely necessary for them to release something that can attract both old and new users. Z9 was a spot on and if the Z8 hits the mark too than we can foresee a great future for the Z system. That being said, Nikon has to keep the momentum and not let the guard down and I believe the next versions of Z6, Z7 and Z9 will probably be even more important in order to solidify Nikon's position in the mirrorless market.
I can't wait for those teaser videos to arrive, I loved the ones they made for the Z9 and I hope they will do something similar for the Z8 :)

Inspiring! Thanks so much for making this

For fast action photography if you add a battery grip cost onto the body you will be close to Z9 price therefore I would have thought that Z9 sales will skyrocket and the much anticipated z8 will match z72 sales if not less.

This morning Mattocks said he noticed the two different pictures of the Z8 and other people are now talking about a photo and video centric Z8, much like Fujifilm and Panasonic have done. But maybe, just maybe, Nikon will offer the Z8 in a smaller, but similar, APS-C package. That would be something.

Thanks Simon. The Z8 is looking good. No mention of what the AF point count is or the EVF resolution?

Hi Simon, looks like you're on roll again, 3 video's about the Z8 while I was sleeping ;-) Too bad YT isn't able to process them fast enough. But when this affects everyone the same, you keep on being the first, right ?
I'm just wondering about your headlines: mindblowing new king better than R5 .. Okay faster 8k and faster shutter speed. And as we know from Z9 it will have less rolling shutter. But it may easily be 200grams heavier than the R5 and it arrives nearly 3 years later to the game .. so far, I don't see it having the game changing power the R5 brought us ..
About your earlier video: the only influence of an engine on the cornering capabilities of a Corvette is the height of its center of gravity. But the rest of your analogy did stick ;-)

Hi!
Wouldn’t it be great if Nikon would change the game and start releasing only stacked sensor cameras? I would go Nikon that way, it would be more xpensive (or maybe not that much) and it force the industry to catch up!
What’s your opinion about that?
All best

good job Simon, you can tell that you're excited about it. hopefully it's a camera that pushes the competition, we as consumers benefit from all manufacturers having great cameras so they all have to innovate to keep and our grow market share. all photographers and videographers benefit by a strong Nikon release as Nikon consumers benefit from Sony and Canon having strong releases.

I’d be interested to have one of your contacts upload and process your video and see what the stats are. Seems like YouTube has shifted some processing power off your account

Hopefully they will also announce the long awaited 200-600 lens also.

These are the specs I believe everyone was looking for. Two crucial missing pieces is the video record limit at the highest quality before overheating, if there is an artificial recording limit. And for me personally, the ergonomics are going to be a key consideration. However, most importantly, the price... If the thing is really for $5000, Nikon can keep it on the store shelves... I'd rather get the flagship Z9 for $500 extra... If that's the case, Nikon really misread the room. This thing cannot exceed $3900 max to compete... Let's wait and see...
