Cheap #dropper posts, usually house brands from Trek (Bontrager Line), Giant Contact Switch, X-Fusion, Crankbrothers Highline, Cube, Merida, Tranz-X - Design, service, installation, weight.
Focusing on the Bontrager second and third generation droppers, all built with the #Wintek cartridge. Great value as fresh take-offs, hope they will last.

This video helped me alot! (no exaggeration).
My Bontrager dropper was grinding on the way down; applying grease inside/below the dust collar solved the problem.
As you said, there was very little grease inside when I opened the collar.
The dropper is now buttery smooth.
Thanks!!!

You said cube has the same structure ? Oh my God, I was struggling with the travel being just a 10mm more than I need, this literally means that all I need is a shim. Thank you so much.

The X-Fusion might be cheap, but it is smooth and very reliable. The Giant develops a lot of play as it has plastic guide bushes.

It's not that these are "cheap" droppers. They are the droppers that are priced right. The other droppers which cost more are overly and needlessly expensive, either from over engineered (complex) or selling their name (Suspension companies) These work as good as them and their maintenance is a lot cheaper and much easier.

PNW droppers are well in this class, and in 27mm for Beargrease and more diameters than the style shown. Durable, simple, affordable, recommended.

Had a Bontrager Line Droppost for 2, 5 years. I had only once a problem. I disassembled the post and cleaned it. It was like new. There was a lot of dirt inside. The only thing i didnt like was that the saddle can rotate a little bit.

Giant droppers are great, easy to maintain, problem free, and cheap as chips!

Yay for the Marlin having internal dropper routing. I put a KS dropper on my Giant Talon and had to run it external, still the single best upgrade I did to the bike. I will now get very familiar with this type of dropper as I am upgrading to a Giant Trance which has the Giant contact dropper, which as you mentioned is very similar to the Bontrager.

I bought the Giant one a couple of years ago, was great at first but within a couple of months the paint was worn on the rear of the stanchion and even with constant cleaning/lubrication didn't perform as well as when new, I wouldn't in hindsight buy another, I have the ethirteen now and although better than the Giant still not what I would expect performance wise for the price.

Why did you reduce the travel? You could have inserted the dropper that same amount, get the same final saddle height but more travel?

8:45 a dropper on an indoor trainer xD

Actually not the worst idea even if you wouldn't use the bike outside too.

Do you have links for any of these droppers?

Did you drill a hole on your seat tube frame? There's no hole to insert the cable on the seat tube for marlin 6.

Hi, does this dropper need air to make it work?
