M*A*S*H was one of the most popular TV shows of all time. Fans flocked to their TV screens on a weekly basis to see what would become of their favorite characters in the 4077th mobile army surgical hospital. Hawkeye, Potter, Henry, Klinger, Radar, and Trapper all became household names. When the show finally came to an end, the final episode saw the highest viewership of any TV show finale in history. Many felt as if they were personally saying goodbye to beloved friends.

The show took a lighthearted look at a difficult period in US history during the Korean War. Not only did audiences find laughter and heartwarming moments throughout the shows running, but they also could spot quite a few production mistakes. Boy was there a bunch of mistakes, but they never detracted from the quality and substance of the show. In fact, you probably missed them.

We take a look at twelve of these mistakes and see how they rank. Most mistakes involve anachronisms in the timeline or simple continuity errors, but some are just downright baffling. It's almost as if they thought we wouldn't notice. But nothing escapes the scrupulous eye of FACTS VERSE.

Who cares, MASH is one of the greatest shows ever made.

Radar could detect helicopters coming in before anyone else and was also implied to be able to read people's minds. Getting comics from the future seems appropriate for him to be able to do.

One you missed: Henry's wife was named Lorraine. In the "Army-Navy Game" episode, where the camp is being shelled, Henry suffers a minor head wound, becomes delirious, and talks to his wife...Mildred. Strangely enough, they liked that name so much they gave it to Mrs. Sherman Potter.

I was also stationed in Korea in 79-80. When MASH came on the TV, everyone stopped what they were doing and watched. It was a thing that everyone did. I was stationed at the 121 Evac Hospital in Seoul. I worked in the Surgical Ward and in the OB/GYN clinic and ward.

I served in Korea 2 tours (1 yr each) and was stationed in several remote areas. When MASH was on it was like church, no one spoke we are here to watch MASH. My last unit was in Camp Red Cloud, where MASH was stationed. Years after I left service the MASH unit there was disbanded, The Army band played the theme song. I never seen an error on MASH because I and my fellow GIs loved the show so much we didn't care, we were there to watch TV.

Without doubt one of the greatest series ever made, it had everything. For me I love all those poignant moments, the goodbyes, the deaths, the affection between characters... Thank you to all concerned in the making of this timeless, always relevant, masterpiece.

"Four-thousand seventy-seven" hurt my ears so much I couldn't watch this vid to the end.

U.S soldiers did spend 4 Christmases during the Korean War. 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953. The war broke out on 25 June 1950 and the armistice was signed in July 1953 with the cease fire taking place on 31 December 1953. That covers 4 Christmases on my calendar.

I have been researching M*A*S*H on Hulu. Love it so much. In one episode, a reporter was interviewing Klinger and asked him if he would like to say hello to his family at home. He says hello to his mother, among his other family. This contrasts with a much later episode where their loved ones at home plan a get together and Klinger reveals he had been hiding his service in Korea all along and they took a photo of everyone with a Ft. Dix, NJ sign in the background.

The absolute biggest mistake you missed was when Potter first came to the 4077, they announced it as "Arriving, September 1952, Colonel Sherman Potter, regular Army, God help us all!" But then in a later episode where they go through the entire year of 1951 ending with the Giants winning the pennant, Potter is shown at the beginning of the episode dressed as Father Time wearing a sash that said 1950. This episode also has Winchester in it throughout the entire year of 1951 and he didn't even arrive to the 4077 until after Potter did.

Has this joker ever seen an episode? It was NEVER referred to as the ‘four thousand seventy-seventh.” Ever.

Here's another mistake, but it was yours, not in the show.
It was called the "Four, Oh, Seven, Seven" NOT the "Four thousand Seventy-Seven"

What I noticed was a unit without flush toilets, etc, but there was never a shortage of plungers.

I don't know if this is technically an error - but the scene of Hawkeye and Hunnicut singing during movie night and improvising the line "We work on soldiers through the day and nurses through the night!" Clearly a holdover line from Trapper. Hunnicut was a devoted family man.

I think you completely missed Hawkeye's disappearing mom and sister. In the first "Dear Dad, he mentions both. Then next season (or so), his dad is a widower and Hawkeye has no siblings.

The name of the first episode you talked about was “Tuttle” not Turtle

I’ve noticed tons of continuity errors after watching M*A*S*H over and over for 40+ years, but I still love the show…at least until Radar left. Then it became more like a moralistic high school play. Regardless, I love the show so much! Watching it now makes me think back to when I watched it every Tuesday night with my late father, and that makes every episode worth its weight in platinum.
