I have been told that even though some nerves can get a NR on an EMG, they can still regenerate, especially if they're the sensory nerves. Is this true ?

my boyfriend has a condition he developed a few years ago where his nerves in hands and feet die and he cant move his fingers or lift his foot. Is that reversable? it might have been radiation damage but no one is sure
