Julio just kept everything a secret to shock his mother, now the secret is out, it is no longer a good idea, but if he let everyone in on his plans well before he did, he could have been gearing up to move at a slower pace. Likewise Kristen has no rights to force him to the Netherlands, they aren't maried and they have no kids. She can back off a little too.
