It should be noted that only the four singers in the background in the picture above are the Penguins, the singer in the foreground is Mel Williams, who was not a member of the group and was not on the 'Earth Angel' recording. The Penguins are just backing him up here during a Johnny Otis show in 1958. The longtime lead singer of the Penguins who handled the tenor lead on Earth Angel was Cleve Duncan, 2nd from left of the four Penguins pictured.

My teacher played this and it sounded so beautiful I had to look it up. I wasn't born during this time obviously, but I love how they write about love rather than the stuff you hear in music nowadays.
