Vintage Moroccan Rug 'Faiza' | by 'A Little Morocco'

This "Moroccan Vintage Rug - Faiza 335x175", meaning victorious is a rare find. Woven as a wedding rug for a bride and groom, this earthy and comfortably soft sweetheart of a rug, has all the hallmarks of an heirloom piece. Its thick woollen weave has interwocven tghroughout wonderful treats where the Moroccan artisan has woven such things as a few token good luck charms of handira coins (Wedding Blanket Sequin) into the underside, along with the initials of the bride and groom and even signed by the maker. Its not often we find such wonderous legacies in these magnificent rugs.

This sweet and wonderful rug is also a perfect example of being a double-sided vintage rug. Often whats called a "Summer Winter" rug, where you can use the flat kilim weave side during summerm, or flip it to reveal the softness of the cut open weave during cooler months. Infact use this beautiful rug however you feel it sings within your home. Its always a treat to see how people use these double duty rugs.

This rug adds subtle earthy colour into an interior space, yet it is a stunning and immaculate hero piece. With a base of rich caramel and then boldly woven with patterning in chocolate, pale green and cream its a stunning rug, thats perfectly suited as a living room rug.

It is noted, that this rug can appear to throw varied colour tones in differing lights.

DETAILS: This rug has a deep thick pile and is hand woven from pure wool and aged approximately circa 90's.

We recommend a good quality non-slip rug underlay to be used to hold this rug in place and to protect it from slipping on hard surfaces.

All our rugs are cleaned and repaired in Morocco, as however may be required. Vintage and handmade rugs may have some minor imperfections, repairs and colour fading. Its handcrafted vintage nature, means its imbued with small irregularities which is considered to add to the authenticity of the item.

I love these rugs, splurged on two vintage this year, a 9ft runner and a 3x5. Unfortunately, I have a cat who is funny about any rug that isn’t smooth and flat weave. If they have the least bit of pile, she pees on them. I took both to a local rug cleaner, hopefully they will be able to get the odor out. Then I’m just going to store them until the cat moves on to the damn Rainbow Bridge or wherever it is cats go when they die.
