Snow falls in the Sahara desert - BBC News

The town of Ain Sefra, on the edge of the Sahara desert, was hit by icy weather last week - and even snow.
Snowfall is very rare in the Sahara, despite the fact that it can be cold at night - because there's rarely enough water around for any kind of precipitation.

I just want to point out that this doesn't prove global warming is fake. The whole worry about global warming isn't that the earth will get hotter, but the increase in climate temperatures could change weather patterns. In a possibly extreme case, deserts could become grasslands and current farming lands could become the new deserts. The reason why people worry about global warming is that we don't know how exactly it will effect the earth, so we tend to first look at the worst case scenario.

What makes this special isn't that it got cold enough in a desert to snow... its that there was enough water in the atmosphere to make snow in the desert. Yes, deserts get cold at night, but please, let us all turn this political.
