In one of the biggest twists of the 2022 Eurovision national final season, Achille Lauro, who had been part of Italy’s Sanremo contest with the song Domenica, will now represent San Marino with a different song… Stripper.

If the only reason this group do not make the final is because of last years winner, then Europe has a serious issue. Great energy and the lead singer has a stage presence second to none. One of my top five hands down, no doubt about it!

he's a great guy, but I wish he had taken part in the ESC another time, not this year. it is very likely that the audience will dislike him when he suddenly appears after "maneskin", although he is very popular in his native country and has a career based on the past.

For all those commenting that he's a "cheap" or "poor man's" version of Damiano or Måneskin... please realise that this is a superficial and ignorant opinion. Achille Lauro may not be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine, but he's been famous in Italy for about 7-8 years now. He has taken part three times to Sanremo. AL and Måneskin are VERY different types of artists - the fact that there are tattoos and make-up on a male face is pretty much the only likeness they have.

The comparisons to måneskin don't make any sense. He's been around longer. When måneskin was in Sanremo in 2021 they were compared to Achille by a lot of people. Achille is very popular singer in Italy, he's been in Sanremo multiple times and was on it before Må

This small san marino stage with not the best sound quality really doesn't show much of what Achille Lauro can do. The staging at eurovision is going to be 🔥 the song has been stuck on my head since he won the san marino national finale. I crave the studio version.

No denying that this dude has stage presence! I hope he’s able to have staging that really makes him memorable at Eurovision. San Marino won’t have the benefit of having Italy voting for them in their semifinal, so Achille is really going to have to impress in his semifinal performance. I like to call San Marino “The Little Country That Could” because they always enter Eurovision as such a major underdog, but when they send a song that hits gold (either because it’s a good song or it’s one that really connects with the fans and viewers), they’re easy to root for. Because everybody loves an underdog. The song itself, I think, is a wildcard on whether it’ll qualify on quality alone, but with Achille’s stage presence and the right staging, it may have a decent shot at qualifying.

I really like his swagger onstage. Kind of like he’s the love child of David Bowie and Iggy Pop with Plastic Bertrand as an uncle.

Great song, in my top 5! Excited to see them perform tonight! Also, it’s hilarious how people are comparing it to maneskin, but nobody complains that there are like 15 identical pop songs each year.
