My OLD Porsche v Yianni's NEW Range Rover: V8 DRAG RACE

It’s time for Mat and Yianni to go head-to-head in their own cars!

We’ve got Mat in his Porsche Cayenne Turbo from 2007, and he’s going up against Yianni in his Range Rover Sport from 2023! So will it be an easy win for the newer car? Let’s check out the stats.

Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 500hp and 700Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,355kg. When new, it cost around £70,000.

As for the Range Rover, it’s packing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under that bonnet that creates 530hp and 750Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, weighing in at 2,505kg. When new, it cost around £116,000.

So the Range Rover is up on power but also up on weight! Will that difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

When I state that the Cayenne 957 is undoubtedly the finest generation ever produced, I am not exaggerating. Despite being nearly 20 years old, this vehicle remains capable of competing on equal terms with brand-new 2025 models. While it may not be a supercar like a Lamborghini Urus or a Ferrari, the fact that a 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 500 horsepower can rival a modern V8 designed two decades later is truly remarkable.

For a long time, this generation was criticised and undervalued. However, after demonstrating its capabilities through impressive off-road feats and dedicated trail versions, the Cayenne 957 is finally regaining some well-deserved recognition in the automotive media. This model deserves far greater appreciation, as it played a pivotal role in shaping the modern high-performance SUV. Both the Cayenne 955 and 957 warrant more attention, admiration, and respect.
