I will say, the computer effects look better straight from the film than they do digitally.

Finally had the pleasure of seeing this film on 35mm two days ago. I can confirm that the CGI looks a lot better straight from the film print, the shadows do wonders sanding off the rough edges. Even Malebolgia looked better!

Interesting to see that when we cut to vendor produced Visual Effects, the shots are hard matted. Now, mind you, shots like these were serious memory crunchers at the time. So, you wanted to render only what you have to. By the time I got to ILM, we were rendering much larger shots in a more efficient fashion. I am curious why some shots are matted so tightly and some have a little more space to breathe. I am suspecting it is a vendor specific thing. Like say.. ILM's shots are tighter as they had to cranks out more shots in the same amount of time that say Banned from the Ranch may have had for fewer shots? I just don't know. I may ask around. I have this on 35mm as well. I have never seen it without the aperture gate thrown on. Thank you for uploading this.

Spawn

Covert government assassin Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is killed after being double-crossed by his boss, Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen). Upon arriving in Hell, Simmons is offered an opportunity to return to Earth if he's willing to lead an evil army. He accepts, and is reincarnated as a "Hellspawn" -- a twisted, horribly disfigured version of his former self. However, Spawn serves as a force of good, much to the dismay of the Devil's henchman, a wicked clown (John Alberto Leguizamo).
