MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO NEW MILLS: TRACK, TREES & SCREENS
Well New Mills has certainly ended up in a right ole state. Sadly, Ive caught most of the trees, every time Ive entered the access area, slowly stripping each tree of foliage and decorating the carpet. I know…
Now’s the time to sort this situation and put up screens to protect these trees.n

The view to New Mills really does look lovely John after all your remedial efforts. The screens work really well and showcase the scenery behind while protecting them at the same time. You've achieved a great deal over the summer holidays so you can afford just to enjoy running the trains while you reacclimatise to being around the little darlings again. Stephen

Busy, busy, busy John ! Your certainly making good use of the school holidays. I do like those screens very functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The view around New Mills, Dinting Viaduct and the mill is absolutely fantastic and a credit to your immense modelling skills 😊 cheers Euan

The layout now looks alive John, like a real view from a hot air baloon.

We are both pensioners in our 70s and we get to stuff when we get it. You do your build at your own time and convince. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will be Piccadilly. Important thing is to keep Piccadilly as a hobby not an obligation. On my layout build over 50 years ago I used carpet adhesive to glue in my soil and ground cover. Don't make the mistake I did by applying this stuff in a poorly ventilated room. I only used a little at a time because of the strong fumes. It gave me a slight headache. Hi John! Great job with the screens! I wondered what you were up to initially, but when I saw them on the side of the layout, of course, it all made sense! Lol! And that slide out screen was a stroke of genius to solve a difficult problem! Rejuvenating the trees was also a good plan as they make up an essential part of several compelling views on the layout! Keep up the inspirational work mate! All the best, Ian.

John, lots of good work done to end the holidays. You must be very pleased with the scenes that you have created. They video very well! I've just received a class 14 shunter from evil Bay today, so I've been tarting it up. I will be having a look at it in a moment. I sealed it with silk varnish, a first use for me. I hope it's a pleasant surprise. Regards, Stephen.

Hi John-Im going to use a similar method for my trees and the old rope one came out well making it worthwhile refurbishing it.
The screens look good and work well too.
Cheers Kev

Hi John. Yet another great and interesting video. I love seeing how you are constantly developing the layout. In this case, the plastic protection sheets on the edges which is a fantastic idea and one that I may have to 'steal' for Pwll Y Draig as I am bound to knock into things constantly due to my...err...how should I put this?...Cuddliness? 😆Keep up the excellent and very inspiring work my friend! 😉

looks a complex layout. how do you get to the lower section to the outside of New Mills station if you have a derailment or loco failure there? looks quite a reach

Great job with the trees. The whole scene gets better and better. Ever think of being a cabinet designer? Great engineering with the screens fitting perfectly. 👍🖊📐
