Thanks CG, I was actually able to utilize this! That doesn't always happen with Blender videos.

Yes, Omg this was the only tutorial I could find that actually used and empty to help fix the taper I was trying to create, Thankyou

That was super useful! Very easy to follow and I really like how you show the same process several times while using different objects: it really helps to get a good understanding on how the modifier works!

Anybody having problems with it not bending correctly and looking like a bow-tie? Here's how to fix it.. Make sure that the object you are trying to bend is going along the 'X' axis and not the 'Y' axis. So make sure that the length of the thing you're trying to bend is going along the 'X' axis. Rotate the object, on Z, by 90 degrees so it's going down that axis and try again. Blender seems to be very picky about this. I used 3DS Max for 19 year but recently came over to Blender and had to work this out lol.

I don't know if the developers changed something, but I can't for the life of me recreate your results with the bend deform. All that I get is that wierd bowtie- looking result like at 4:56. I've tried bending around an empty exactly like you did, I've subdivided the mesh a ton, I've tried every axis possible. I can't get it to do what you did with the bench.

Hello, thank for your video !
But like some people below, bend doesn't work at all, IF I don't rotate the empty, 90 degrés, sometimes along the X, sometimes along the Y, no matter the axis I choose in the modifier, if the empty and the the object have their local axis the same the global, it's always wrong. I don't understand how it works... I tried to change the order of the stack, to apply the other modifiers, I'm never able to get a predictable result...
Apologize my poor English, and enjoy Blender !

Let's say I have a simple flat cube extrusion in the shape of 12 inches in length, .25 inches wide, and .125 in thickness..basically long flat strip of material and I need to 'twist' it 3 times in the middle only about total of 1" worth of 'twists"...so flat for certain length, twist 3 times, and then return to flat for the remainder....any thoughts? thanks

how did you do the ear? I am trying to that bend but it is hard for me

C'est assez bizarre, peu importe les Ctrl-A, la commande fonctionne autour du Z, mais si on essaye de refaire exactement de la même façon, mais le long des autres axes, ça part en sucette total...

Any ideas how to do things like this in blender 2.9? Unfortunately all the tutorial videos on youtube is for older versions and none of them works (literally)
