Ok so Episode 1 of Moon Knight is now out on Disney Plus and the Marvel MCU show has a lot to unpack from it. Filled with easter eggs, hidden details and things you missed we follow things from the perspective of Marc Speccc....well we'll get into it.

(feauturette)

Ok so if you have absolutely no idea who Moon Knight is then the next part of the video is for you. First introduced in Werewolf By Night 32 Moon Knight or rather Marc Spector was a hero that was often compared to Batman but Marvel have done a great job of seperating the two.

Born the son of a Jewish Rabbi, Marc thought his father was a coward because he fled Europe during the second world war in order to escape the holocaust. Marc wanted to make himself strong and thus he trained as a boxer before he joined the army. Marc ended up as a mercenary and during a mission to Egypt he was betrayed by a man known as Roaul Bushman who left him at death's door. Marc was carried before the Shrine Of Khonshu and in exchange for getting his life back he promised to become the God's avatar on Earth.

Marc returned to America and he became a vigilante equipped with Moonerangs, grappling hooks, a cape, a jet, a moon cave and a mansion but he's not Batman...he's not Batman. Marc adopted several other personalities including Steven Grant, a playboy millionaire and also Jake Lockley, a cab driver who had his ear close to the street.

Now Jake is pretty much missing from this first episode but we do get things from the perspective of Steven who has been changed up a lot from the comics. Rather than being a rich playboy he's now a museum staff member that has trouble sleeping. We know from the trailer that both Marc and Steven are gonna being going back and forth in Mirrors and the first episode is laced with the idea of reflections throughout.

The first comes when Marc goes to work and he walks through a puddle. Later when he pours his heart out to the mime we see a puddle is once more used. They do an amazing shot in this moment where you think youre looking in the puddle on the bottom but its actually at the top.

Man... Oscar Isaac is freaking giving it his all and it's paying off. Already well on its way to being my favorite Marvel TV show. This was seriously entertaining back to front and I can't wait for more episodes. Thanks for spoiling it heavily, cheers!!

I felt so bad for Steven when he realised he'd missed 2 days and messed up the date, could really see him trying his best to hold back tears while ordering a steak.

Guys vegan too, his soul was crushed.

Wasn't expecting the first episode to end with that money shot, but I'm really happy it did. Also, I loved the horror feel of the last 5 minutes. Overall, a great episode.

How come no one is talking about Khonsu calling Steven Grant the “idiot” every time he switched back? One of my favorite parts of the episode especially when he throws the gun at the car through the van’s smashed windshield. I’m really hoping in later episodes we get to see the missing pieces where Mark was in control and kept saving them.

I think its really cool starting with the Steven personality since he's feeble and of humble means, when we learn about Mark and see how capable and well off he is the dichotomy will really hit harder than vice versa.

Coming at this as someone who doesn't know anything about the comics. It was great! There was enough suspense to keep you guessing and engaged without getting lost in the plot. You feel for Steven and his confusion over what is happening to him, whether it is a dream or a hallucination or it's all really happening. I love the show already and can't wait for next week.

I fully love how fully disconnected Moon Knight feels from the rest of the MCU, it briefly reminded of Eternals and Daredevil sometimes, but for the most part, the episode had its own identity

Loving Oscar in this, usually I don’t like it when American actors try and do the British accent but I think he’s got it spot on. First episode has got me gripped. I have high hopes for this series !

I got goosebumps when he dragged the Jackal back into the bathroom

He's not trapped in there with that thing,
*that thing is trapped in there with him*

Honestly I was really surprised how much I loved this first episode, I mean I knew it was gonna be good but not this good, it’s definitely something different from your average superhero thing so I would give it a 9/10 hope y’all enjoyed it the same way I did

As you've said, I absolutely love that they held out on showcasing the hero costume. It gave the show a unique feel. I admit that I had never heard of Moonknight before but believe me, I'm doing all my research on the characters back story.

Another great video!

Such a great first episode! I hope they keep this quality up through the whole series! I've come to look forward to the breakdown videos that you and He Who Must Not Be Named over at Screen Crush do almost as much as I look forward to the shows themselves.

8:21 i think the sand around his bed it's for him to know if he walked while sleeping or not, at some point in the episode you can see him covering the footprints with more sand before sleep

They gave me exactly what I wanted, the character study Oscar promised with the hint of further depth. Already the structure and relationship of the alters is fascinating to me, is Marc the only one with the access to the Fist of Khonshu ? Will Lockley have similar access to Mr Knight, or will we start to treat ALL of them as alters in their own right?
Will things get utterly bonkers with Wolverine / Spidy / Cap alters showing up down the line? Are we going to get the Ellis / Shalvey "The Raid" tribute? Even with the ton of potential comic ideas, the creative team clearly has their own spin, and that's just as exciting to me going forward. Cracking first ep.

I actually don’t think the sequence in the alps was a dream at all, Marc probably took over right before the logs hit them and kept control until they were back at Stevens place, where he was safe. And Steven came back as soon as Marc went to sleep. This would also explain why he‘s missing two full days and then misses the date with his coworker, since it would definitely take him some time to return to London.

I went in open minded hoping the show would be good but damn, Oscar Isaac's performance was mind-blowing. I was hoping they eould take some inspiration from "Joker" but not out right clone it and that definitely seems like the case to me. What an intro to a show, by far my favorite marvel show so far

Totally hooked after the first episode. Love the intrigue. They've pulled it off much better than the opening of WandaVision. Can't wait for this to unfold.
