At the opening ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum held in Beijing on June 22, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for more collaboration instead of confrontation as state and business leaders from the BRICS and other emerging economies gathered to discuss openness to facilitate world economic growth.

Wang Guan hosted a panel discussion titled "Uphold the concept of openness and promote world economic recovery" with Wang Shouwen, vice Minister of Commerce of China and Deputy China International Trade Representative; Sergey Katyrin, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russia Federation; Sanjiv Mehta, president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Chen Siqing, chairman of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China; Busi Mabuza, chairperson of the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa; and Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, vice chairman and CEO of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation. The Hub with Wang Guan also discussed the takeaway from the 12th BRICS Trade Ministers Meeting earlier in June and the need for a re-energized globalization.
