Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow video game review of Vectorman, developed by BlueSky Entertainment and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis, also part of multiple collections on next-gen systems. It's the year 2049, and humans have taken off for space after they have trashed the planet, and the evil Orbot Raster has declared himself ruler of Earth, and Vectorman is the one to stop him. Blast and morph your way through 13 levels of incredibly well-rendered side-scrolling action. This CGRundertow video game review features video gameplay footage of Vectorman and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Eric.

Oh I love this game soooo much. It's such a shame the technology with the 3d sprites that runs this game was never used elsewhere. I remember reading in EGM waaaay back in the day that the developers wanted to sell the Vector Engine, which was used to make Vectorman 1 & 2, to other developers. Kinda like how Epic sells Unreal Engine today. The technology for its time was revolutionary... well for the 16bit consoles. With Saturn & Playstation coming, they never sold the engine. Damn shame....

Vector and Raster...

Vector is a image type you can stretch without loss of quality along with it being made by shapes.

Raster is a image made from programs like photo shop or Gimp/Paint.net that can have more effects but can not stretch any larger then its default size but it can also go smaller than default.

Explains why Vectorman can change shapes. :)

I saw this and hoped Derek or Kevin was reviewing it. Then I was disappointed Eric was reviewing it.

But then Eric knocked it out of the park!
Well done Eric!

I first tried out Vectorman at a Toys R Us display. Ten minutes later, I bought it. The look was so sharp, with ultra responsive controls, I loved it. VM2 was another buy without question. It's unfortunate that V Man came along a tad too late to survive in the next generation of gaming.

I am new to this game but not the sega megadrive. I found the soundtrack disappointing but the rest of the game is amazing. It's hard and addictive. This game reminds me a lot of earthworm Jim.

@Joeyg143 Mine too, although I own "VectorMan 2" which is surprisingly better than the first game. I use to be so good at that game that I could play through the whole game 5 times in a row after school. *sigh* Does anybody else miss there childhood as much as I do now?

No need for a remake, Vectorman was one of the games they got right the first time.  One of the best soundtracks on the sega, Jon Holland is the man.  Great review Undertow!
