2 curses for me.

1. Every year of high school meant there was a new problem with my school laptop.

2. My friend groups always seem to disband around me… Starting with my best/most important friends.

I have three curses:
-Getting severely ill or injured whenever i travel - and just like in the birthday story - the longer the trip, the worse it gets.
-Within a month of joining a guild in an mmo something major happens (unrelated to me) which always causes the guild to die. Thankfully i quit playing mmos a couple years ago...
-When i get very lucky rng in a gacha, some major shit goes down later that same day irl (e.g. testing positive for covid, dad ending up in the ER, finding out i failed an exam, etc).

I’m so worried about coming off as weird that I don’t talk to anyone anymore. The few times I HAVE made an effort to say hello to someone (like in line at the grocery store) I’ve awkwardly stumbled over what I was trying to say. I used to be really outgoing before the months spent indoors during lockdown molded me into a timid introvert.

every time I went out with my mother, I ended up crying.
at first, I thought it was a shirt I was wearing that was bad luck so I never wore it. But even when I was wearing a different shirt the same thing happened. Then I realized it was my mother, not the shirt.
Every time we went out, she'd find something to bitch at me about.
Weather it was my teeth, or my hair, or my clothes, or the fact I wasn't in school because of 'how I acted' she'd find some flaw in me and shame me in public for it.
I've become super insecure of my teeth and, as a result, never opened my mouth much, metaphorically and literally.

I have what I jokingly call "Cupid's Curse". Every single person I even remotely have an interest in will find their soul mate in the span of a year or so.

Getting mad at people especially if they wronged me.
Something weird happens to them.

Guy tried to blackmail me- almost chokes on a bone
Some girl playfully hit me and I got mildly annoyed- she fell and slipped down a small slope
Dude ghosted me- got COVID
Dude ghosted me- got into an accident
Sister did nonsense to me - ended up with a fairly messy life.
Guy upset me- got hit with a wardrobe, also got cut by a random branch breaking.


So I try not to get mad at people unless they rightfully upset me

I may have completely lost the ability to trip and fall. I've slipped, mis-stepped, or stumbled numerous times, yet never in the past 6+ years have I actually lost my footing and fallen to the ground. Maybe this is more of a blessing...

Every romantic relationship I've had so far has been shorter than the previous one. My first lasted 5 months, the second 4 months, the third around a month, and the fourth didn't even last a single week. At this point, I'm honestly expecting my next partner to leave me within 48 hours.

My curse is that I worked hard for 7 years, months without a day off, 12, 14 hour days in order to build a amateur rally car out of my 2008 subaru. I won't say how much I've spent but after a year of building it I've taken it to 5 different renowned tuners on the east coast and no matter what, I get boost creep and a phantom throttle issue where in between shifts the rpm tachs up to 5k and will hang there unless I put it into gear. Nobody can figure out why, these are professionals of the highest caliber and everything that would cause the issue is perfect. Nobody can figure it out. World's most expensive paper weight. If some random incognito tuner reads this and knows a fix, please God tell me. My soul has been crushed thoroughly.

I've experienced a graduation curse.

15 days after I graduated high school (2010), my mom hurt her ankle. She broke 2 small bones around her right ankle. That killed my senior summer and had long term consequences for both me and my mom. I've had to take care of her in some capacity ever since and she hasn't been 100% mobile since that time. She needed ankle surgery and had to start using a walker less than 2 yrs later. The long lasting effects were the only reason I went back to my hometown after college and I would've stayed in my college town if not for that ankle injury.

Ultimately, what me and my mom thought was a never-healing ankle and incompetence from the doctor who operated on it was ultimately an unknown sign of a bigger health issue that was revealed a couple of yrs after I graduated college. Speaking of that...

15 days after I graduated college, she hurt her back. She picked something up that had water in it and she was pouring the water out and something popped in her back. Luckily, it wasn't anything severe. However, she went from being on the brink of ditching the walker to using it a lot longer.

I have zero plans and zero desire to go to grad school. I don't want my mom breaking or hurting something or have a heart attack or stroke 15 days after getting my Masters.

EDIT: This is more of a jinx thing than a curse thing, but an older FB friend of mine has never seen our favorite college team win a game in person. He's either 0-9 or 0-10 when he goes and watches them in person. Aside from one basketball game, it's all been football.

It's impossible for me to go to school before 7 am, the time when my first class starts. No matter how hard I wake up early and get ready early, something always keeps me from getting to school early. Either the public transport got delayed or there's something that needed to be fixed or done in our house. I just accepted that this is my curse.

Just to clarify, I usually go to school late, it's the norm. I'm saying in this comment that when I want to be early, the universe doesn't allow me to.

for several years, any time i made a joke, someone would always be right in the middle of taking a drink. i never planned it and i usually wasn't even looking, it just happened every goddamn time

Whenever I get an infection, it has to be life threatening. I got swimmer's ear so badly that I was hospitalized and needed IV antibiotics so it didnt spread to my brain. Then I got a freak case of flesh-eating bacteria that resulted in 15 surgeries, including the loss of my leg, and of course a huge course of IV antibiotics. Then I had 2 different abscesses on my stump leg that resulted in hospitalizations, including more IV antibiotics and surgeries. And about a month ago I got a kidney infection that resulted in an ER visit and, you guessed it, more IV antibiotics. Besides this weird curse, theres nothing wrong with me and my immune system. According to my doctors, I'm surprisingly healthy for all that's happened and I'm just supremely unlucky lol

My curse: Technology never works right around me. My touch-screen phone often doesn’t respond when I touch it. When my phone is on 2 bars, it barely works at all. And it sucks extra cause I work at an electronic cash register and it only malfunctions when I’m behind it.
My mom’s curse: Whenever there’s something going on outside (nonstop fireworks or animals barking), it stops the moment she opens the front door to look. Whether the sound lasts for 30 seconds or 10 minutes, it stops the moment she opens the front door. And it resumes the moment she sits back down in her chair.

Every time I go Boy Scout camping far from my house I throw up or something else bad happens. Also my panic attacks from my anxiety cause me to go into a hot sweat, skin turning ghostly white, laying on the ground, and possibility of throwing up. The most common cause is disgust but it isn’t always. It can be from anything and anywhere at anytime.
