Came back to this video after finding out about his passing and it brought so many tears of love and sadness. Len was the best judge. He kept the tradition of ballroom dance alive and was the heart of the show. So to Len, you are an everlasting 10. 💜🙏

Just heard he passed away! I was wondering how he died at 78 while he seemed to be in a pretty good state these past few years, but I've now read about his bone cancer... Sucks so bad!! Well, at least they say he passed away peacefully this weekend (3 days before his birthday) after short illness. Goodman was a treasure on both the British original and the American version of the show. Rest in peace and dance your way to the stars, legend! 🕊

He knew long before that he would be the head judge because BBC pitched the show to ABC with Len and Bruno. The only thing in doubt was whether ABC would buy it. They did and the rest is history. Len was a star because he was just himself and that's not an easy thing to be when you are pivotal to the success of one of the most successful TV formats in history. Few people would have predicted 20 years ago just how successful it would become and Len was a big part of the Strictly journey.
